STRETCH MARKS

Stretch marks: How to eliminate these unsightly streaks?

1. Stretch marks: what are they?

Stretch marks correspond to a tear in the dermis of the skin, in other words the layer located between the epidermis and the hypodermis. When the skin is subjected to intense and rapid tension, the tissues stretch without breaking. Stretch marks are visible on the surface of the skin. They take on the appearance of fine sinuous scars. They are purplish in color when they appear. They are considered to be at an inflammatory stage. Their color fades and takes on a slightly pearly white color. In some cases, their color fades to take on the color of the skin.

Stretch marks mostly appear on the stomach, buttocks, breasts, arms around the biceps, knees and thighs.

4. TECHNIQUES TO MAKE STRETCH MARKS DISAPPEAR

So-called "inflammatory" stretch marks (stage 1) are easier to treat, especially with a pulsed dye laser. Thus, if the welts are still red or purplish, it will be easier to erase them. However, aesthetic medicine has developed reliable and non-invasive techniques to remove stretch marks, whatever their stage of development, with visible and satisfactory results.

To treat stretch marks, the main aesthetic medicine methods used are:

A. The peel against stretch marks

The peeling technique is effective for the treatment of stretch marks, provided that a medium peel is used. Indeed, the gentle so-called "superficial" peel is useless to remove stretch marks. For a visible result, it is essential to act on the dermis in depth.

Principle and procedure of a session: this chemical process consists in deeply exfoliating the skin, which causes regeneration of the skin. Very effective, this act of aesthetic medicine nevertheless remains quite heavy and requires fairly long skin healing (more than on the face), because the desquamation can be quite extensive. One session is enough. The operation is performed under local anesthesia.

B. Skinmark solution by mesoestetic + Hyaluronic acid infusion + Chromotherapy

C. PRP

5. CONTRAINDICATIONS

In certain situations linked to a specific state of health or a type of skin, the use of these aesthetic medicine techniques is contraindicated:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding: if you are pregnant and want to remove stretch marks, you will have to wait until the end of your pregnancy or breastfeeding period.
  • Serious infectious diseases (immunosuppression, diabetes).
  • Black or very dark skin can have hyperpigmentation as a side effect: a medical analysis will determine if your skin can be treated without risks.

LOSS OF ELASTICITY OF THE SKIN, THESE SMALL MARKS POISON US LIFE AFTER WEIGHT LOSS OR GAIN, OR PREGNANCY

At the time of growth, during pregnancy or after a significant weight gain, the skin is subjected to a tension which causes the appearance of stretch marks. These fine streaks take on the appearance of fine scars. In both men and women, stretch marks are common and without major health risk. There are treatments to limit their appearance.

2. Stretch marks: what are the causes?

Stretch marks affect nearly 70% of women. Indeed, pregnancy is the first cause of the appearance of stretch marks. During pregnancy, the skin of the stomach is put under tension and it is common for stretch marks to appear on the abdomen, stomach and sides, as well as on the breasts.
During a significant weight gain, the accumulation of fat increases significantly, causing the appearance of stretch marks on the arms, thighs, stomach, but also women and hips. But it is also common in some athletes that the gain of muscle mass can cause, small scars in streaks.
During growth, stretch marks may appear on adolescent bodies.
Finally, developments in medicine today allow us to say that stretch marks can be caused when patients have a large dose of corticosteroids in the body. Cushing syndrome is caused by cortisol (cortex), which is the stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands.
Finally, thin and fragile skin is an important factor in the appearance of stretch marks.
