Lipocussion

The objectives of liposuction

This operation aims to eliminate the small fatty deposits of your body, difficult to leave even with a sport practice or a diet. Liposuction will therefore allow you to treat different parts of your body and your face.

This technique aims to harmonize the silhouette by reshaping it. The goal of liposuction is therefore not weight loss. You will, moreover, always be advised to get as close as possible to your ideal weight before having the operation. It is therefore not a treatment for obesity, but rather an intervention to sculpt your body.

If the fat overload is very minimal, the patient can opt for a less invasive gentle liposuction than the traditional technique.

Thighs

Liposuction of the thighs removes the saddlebags which have the appearance of a visible ball of fat which distorts the silhouette. It can also refine the inner thighs on the other side of the leg.

Knees

The hump on the inner side of the knee gives the leg a heavy and ungracious appearance. Liposuction of the knees is a very good indication because the skin is very resistant and not stretched.

Calves

Calf liposuction is a precision procedure. On the calves, the layer of fat is not very thick and the surgeon must take care to suck gently.

Liposuction: technical information

The procedure for liposuction lasts between 1 and 3 hours depending on the areas treated. Hospitalization is generally done on an outpatient basis. Otherwise, overnight hospitalization may be necessary. Normally, general anesthesia is necessary for this type of procedure. However, when liposuction is done over a small area, local anesthesia can be used.

Liposuction results / Before - after liposuction

The first results are visible immediately after the operation. In areas where liposuction has been performed, volumes have decreased. The edema disappears and the skin gradually retracts, the final result is visible 3 months after the liposuction procedure.

Indeed, it will be necessary to count this duration so that the post-intervention edema disappears, and that the skin tightens completely. The skin will take a month to retract completely on the new curves of the silhouette. The result will then be optimal. The time for the edema to disappear will vary depending on the area where the liposuction intervention was performed (stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, etc.).

You find a harmonious silhouette, as if you had never gained weight before. The time for the edema to disappear will vary depending on the area where the liposuction intervention was performed (stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, etc.).

However, you are not exempt from adopting or maintaining a healthy lifestyle, as well as a balanced diet. Fat cells do not multiply but can move to other areas of the body.

With these few tips, the results of liposuction will be definitive and spectacular.

The fat cells, or adipocytes, which will be sucked in by the procedure, do not have the ability to re-multiply. We then obtain a definitive result. The time that the skin retracts definitively on the new curves, it will be necessary to wait a period between 3 and 6 months to appreciate the result definitively. The result of liposuction is generally fully satisfactory, as long as all the precautions and indications specific to this intervention have been observed.

The success of liposuction depends on the quality of the skin: it is preferable to have thick, toned and elastic skin that tightens naturally after the operation. So that fat does not develop elsewhere in the body, it is however necessary to have a healthy lifestyle.

Liposuction removes fat deposits located on different parts of the body.  It thus makes it possible to find a harmonious silhouette.

Liposuction of the belly
Liposuction of the thighs
Liposuction of the hips

Invented in 1977 by Dr Yves Gérard Illouz, liposuction is today the most widely practiced cosmetic surgery procedure in the world. Liposuction effectively treats fat deposits located on different parts of the body. It thus makes it possible to find a harmonious silhouette and to effectively treat certain parts of the face such as the double chin.

Liposuction effectively treats fat deposits located on different parts of the body. It thus makes it possible to find a harmonious silhouette and to effectively treat certain parts of the face such as the double chin.

The face

The fat is preferably lodged under the chin but also in the cheeks, jowls and neck. With double chin liposuction, the features are refined and the profile is lightened and the person immediately appears rejuvenated.

Arms

The skin on the arms is very fragile and tends to sag with age, especially in women who have less muscle mass than men. When the surgeon does liposuction of the arms, he must avoid removing too much fat so as not to aggravate the sagging skin.

Hips

Liposuction of the hips removes fatty deposits located in the waist area, including love handles. The hips are easy to treat because the skin is thick and firm and retracts easily.

The belly

Belly liposuction sucks in subcutaneous fat (the one on the surface) but does not remove the visceral fat that lodges inside around the organs of the abdomen.

The glutes

Buttock liposuction remove fat from an overdeveloped or sagging buttocks, redraws its plumpness or removes the buttock banana located just under the crease of the buttocks.

The stages of liposuction

A first visit is always made with your surgeon before proceeding with liposuction. This first consultation is thus the opportunity to know your history and to know if any contraindication will prevent you from undergoing such an operation. On D-day, the operation takes place in several stages:

  • Before proceeding with liposuction, the plastic surgeon marks the areas to be treated with a surgical felt.
  • It then infiltrates a solution allowing to liquefy the fats and an easier suction of the grease.
  • Then, small incisions will allow him to insert a cannula with a rounded blunt tip and perforated at its end. It then performs back and forth movements to suck the excess fat with the cannulas.
  • Once the fat is aspirated, the surgeon closes the incisions with absorbable suture and covers them with a bandage.

Resuming activities after liposuction

The recovery time following liposuction is proportional to the amount of fat extracted and the number of areas treated. It is common to feel stiffness during the first few days. The discomfort and pain are usually moderate. They will be calmed with the help of classic analgesics.

You can take a quick shower the next day. The panty is removed to take a shower but kept day and night for 4 to 5 days then during the day only. No bath for 8 days

You can move and walk right away, but you will have to wait 4-7 days before resuming a normal active life. Sport should be resumed gradually between 15 days (swimming) and 1 month (jogging).

It is best not to expose the treated areas to the sun for about three weeks, while the bruising and 75 to 80% of the edema disappear.

The price of liposuction

There are many things to consider when performing liposuction. So the price depends on some factors like:

  • The quality of your skin.
  • The amount of fat to be extracted.
  • The number of areas you want to treat.

In all cases, a personalized estimate will be established by your surgeon and sent during the first consultation.
